“Some places are like visiting a good friend” – this is the main idea behind our Online City Guide smart-travelling.net. Our independent travel guide was initiated in 2002 and offers personally chosen tips and addresses for more than 25 European cities.

The heart and soul of this treasure trove of travel information are Nicola Bramigk and Nancy Bachmann, both from Berlin. For years they have been travelling to the major cities around the world looking for outstanding and unique places. Besides loving good food and having a special interest in fashion, design and architecture, what really unites them is their travel obsession and their exceptional ability in putting a finger on a city´s pulse.

Smart-travelling.net emerged out of the wish to share our discoveries with other like-minded travellers to make their journey even more enjoyable. Its unique and exceptional personalized travel tips distinguishes it from all other travel guides. “Smart Travelling offers travel advice as if it were coming from a close friend whose good taste you trust.” That`s how designer and founder Nicola Bramigk describes the philosophy behind Smart Travelling.

In the mean time Nicola and Nancy are supported by a network of onsite researchers continually up-dating the guide with the latest information. To expand the services for Smart Travellers a cooperation was started with the mobile navigation system smart2go™. Its satellite navigation system can provide you with a detailed map of the chosen city, including a route planner which will guide you to the Smart Travelling-Tip you want to see.

As well as their internet services Nicola Bramigk and Nancy Bachmann run a shop in the centre of Berlin. The store was furnished by star designer Werner Aisslinger and is Europe´s first concept store specializing in city travel. Its products range from weekend travel bags, travel literature and cosmetics to unusual souvenirs and European delicacies. You will even find a series of “little travel helpers”, exclusively developed for Smart Travelling. Most of these products can be also ordered over the online shop.

The latest product from the Smart Travelling family is the guide “A perfect weekend…”, published in cooperation with the Süddeutsche Zeitung. It lists the best places to see in a city together with interviews, photos, recipes and a whole range of additional information. 120 pages to give ideas how to enjoy each of the 72 hours of that Perfect Weekend. The cities covered to date are Vienna, Berlin, Barcelona, Florence, London, Naples, Rome, Paris, Nice, Stockholm, Zurich, Munich, Venice, Hamburg and Amsterdam, and NEW Madrid, Lissabon and Istanbul.
