Speakeasy at its best! The Lavomatic’s is definitely nondescript. The only clue that there’s more here than meets the eye is the sign with electric blue letters above the doors of a laundromat. The hidden door to the upstairs speakeasy bar is behind the facade of a washing machine, with a spindly, dark staircase behind it. Once at the top, you enter a small, colorful and kitschy bar. Tiny stools shaped like soapboxes, swing seats for the adults, Lavomatic is a hidden gem in the 10th arrondissement. After-work guests, friends and couples all hang out here, enjoying the unusual cocktails and rare Parisian air conditioning. A favorite of regulars is the Nuage Rose with hibiscus tonic and a mini marshmallow topping. And by the way, the washing machines in the entrance actually work. So if you still have laundry, feel free to bring it in.
