Originally, the restaurant Zum Wilde Maa was a cosy and homey pub. Now, Basel gastronomic great Andreas Schürmann has taken over the reins and is bringing a breath of fresh air to the cuisine in Kleinbasel. Fresh, seasonal, regional and no frills is the motto. You could still describe the atmosphere as down-to-earth, but the menu is a lot classier than before, you could say made for gourmets. The menu is limited and guests have to choose between a three- and six-course menu, but it is on point. For example, a rump of Bernese Oberland lamb with courgettes, thyme and potatoes is served as the main course. All cheese lovers must not miss the dessert, because then there is cheese from the master Anthony. The crème de la crème of cheeses. And, of course, there is no lack of an exquisite wine selection here either. A place for all those who love gourmet food but don’t want it stiff.
