There are places you feel instantly. The Hirschen<\/a> in Schwarzenberg, nestled in the Bregenzerwald, is one of them. A house with history, character, and charm. With creaking floorboards, wood-panelled parlours, contemporary art on the walls \u2013 and that special kind of energy that lingers. In the hands of the Fetz family for nearly 270 years, the hotel is now run by siblings Pia and Peter Fetz in its tenth generation. Two hosts with vision, a strong sense of style, and a genuine passion for what they do.<\/p>\n

Because nothing here is left to chance. Every room, every dish, every detail reflects a deep respect for tradition and a love for the present. The guest rooms \u2013 spread across the historic main house from 1755 and the newly built Hirschen Homes \u2013 tell a story of refined simplicity: light wood, clean lines, art instead of decoration, and a calming sense of stillness. The scent of fresh timber mingles with the delicate aromas coming from the in-house fermentation kitchen.<\/p>\n

In 2024, a new chapter was opened: with the Badehaus,\u00a0designed by the Vorarlberg-based architecture studio NONA, an architectural gem made of local timber came to life. Saunas, massage rooms, light-filled relaxation areas across two levels, a yoga deck and \u2013 of course \u2013 the stylish bathrobe bar invite guests to slow down and settle in. Outside, a 15-metre pool sparkles in the garden, eco-heated and surrounded by a landscape inspired by Piet Oudolf \u2013 full of wild poetry and natural ease. A place to pause, breathe, and simply let go.<\/p>\n

Culinarily, the Hirschen is in a league of its own. Three Gault&Millau toques, a Green Michelin Star, and a kitchen team that combines craftsmanship with creativity. Jonathan Burger and Raphaela Wirrer serve alpine dishes with depth \u2013 from\u00a0Kalbsrahmbeuschel<\/em>\u00a0to umami-rich celery, fermented with Koji. Natural wines accompany the experience, alongside exciting discoveries \u2013 all enjoyed in a dining space as beautiful as the food itself: whether in the historic parlours, the garden, or spontaneously around the kitchen table with friends.<\/p>\n

\"Hirschen<\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s that spirit. That special kind of atmosphere you can\u2019t plan or create \u2013 it just happens. The Hirschen is a place where people come together \u2013 guests, artists, architects, hosts \u2013 over a glass of wine at the bar, while dancing, talking, laughing. And the next morning, you\u2019ll find yourself in the fireside lounge, coffee in hand, still glowing from the night before.<\/p>\n
