The first time we heard about the Antonius Chapel in Wasserburg was when a woman asked us if we were also looking for “power places”. We are doing that – definitely! And when we reached the Antonius Chapel, we also knew why “power places”. Let’s put it this way: If you haven’t been to the Antonius Chapel and haven’t enjoyed this breathtaking view of the whole of Lake Constance, you can’t really say that you were really at Lake Constance. You MUST have seen that. In good weather, you can see the Pfänder in Vorarlberg and the Säntis in Eastern Switzerland. Above all, you can see this wonderful landscape, which in late summer is bursting with fertility: apple orchards and vineyards as far as the eye can see. The chapel was first mentioned in 1492, when it was used as a hermitage for hermits. Those who like such things can admire a gothic Madonna inside. But one should be really amazed in front of the chapel, for example in the wooden deck chairs on which one can also comfortably enjoy the view. From Lindau, Wasserburg, Nonnenhorn or Bodolz, the Antonius Chapel can also be reached as one of the 6 panorama points of the Panorama Cycling Tour at the Lindauer Bodensee. This cycle tour lasts about 3 hours, is almost 26 km long and offers at the individual viewpoints. But beyond all these facts, the Antonius Chapel is a matter of the heart.
