Bar Festival Locarno

The Bar Festival Locarno is the city’s bar and meeting place not only for the festival. The International Film Festival has been held in Locarno since 1946, making it one of the oldest in the world alongside the festivals in Cannes, Moscow and Venice. During eleven days, hundreds of films from various categories are shown all over the city. One of the special features of the Locarno Festival is that many of the screenings take place outdoors on the Piazza Grande in the old town. It is a gigantic open-air cinema that seats about 8000 people.
