The Sultan-Ahmet-Mosque was built based on the example of the Sophia Hagia. Due to its blue tiles used for the cupola and walls, it is has received its colloquial name the Blue Mosque. Unique to the Blue Mosque are its six minarets, which can not be found anywhere else in the world, even in Mecca. The view of the Mosque is especially impressive from the Galata bridge or from the Golden Horn.
