Already at the entrance to the small coastal town Simon’s Town, traffic signs warn against penguins waddling quietly along the sidewalks and jumping onto the street. A colony of about 2100 African penguins lives here on the shore of False Bay and offers an insight into one of the most fascinating sides of South Africa, its wildlife. The Boulders Beach is part of a national park and stretches over three bays. In some places you can get very close to the animals or even swim with them in the sea. It is an unforgettable experience to observe the penguins up close and in freedom and a day or weekend trip to Simon’s Town is definitely worthwhile.
