The Café de L’Abbye is an institution. Hidden away, but well known among Marseillais. As soon as the first rays of sunlight come out, graphic designers, sailors, lawyers and the chic residents of the neighbourhood meet here for a glass of rosé and enjoy the secret view of the old harbour from the tiny, triangular terrace – which quickly becomes crowded. Fresh baguette with olive oil is snacked on and the small but fine menu has no starters, but there is a dish of the day. This is put together according to what is on offer at the weekly market and the cook’s mood. The place is especially busy on Fridays, and you can’t get anything here without a reservation. A charming, local and still secret place!
