The answer to the best coffee in town is provided by the Café Stagnitta, which has been run for generations – a wonderful bar next to the legendary roasting house of the same name, which was opened back in 1928. The café is a little hidden near the town hall and can easily be combined with a visit to the baroque monastery of Chiesa di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria. Besides the coffee – the “Cremino al caffé” is simply delicious – one should not miss the typical Sicilian delicacy, the Granita, in the Stagnitta. Although the freezer preserves only a few varieties, it is quality and not quantity that is important here. Among our flavour favourites are almond, pistachio and strawberry.
