The cable car takes you from Locarno up to Orselina over lush green meadows, shimmering pine forests and comfortably grazing cows. From here you already have a great view of Locarno and Lake Maggiore. But it is only a stopover. In Orselina, the cable car continues to Cardada. The vegetation becomes sparser and the view more and more spectacular. Once in Cardada, you can take the chairlift to Cimetta for the last few kilometres, but the more beautiful option is the hiking trail that leads from Cardada to the alp. On paths lined with pine trees, through low vegetation and across some pastures, the route is quite steep in places. But you will be rewarded at your destination. Here you will find the Capanna lo Stallone, a cosy hut with a large sun terrace. A wonderful place to catch your breath and fortify yourself with polenta. Polenta roasted over the fire is the speciality of the house and comes in numerous combinations. For example, with tomatoes, rocket and Gorgonzola or with fresh figs and Bedretto cheese. Strengthened, you can continue hiking to Monti di Lego (1 h) or to Pizzo Trosa (1 h). If you like it up here, you can stay in one of the group or family rooms. Very simple, but the luxury is the seclusion, the fresh mountain air and the incredible view.
