Dashi Okume is located in a former garage in Greenpoint and is an absolute mecca for anyone who loves Japan. In addition to a great selection of dashi, the Japanese soup base, Dashi Okume has a great curated selection of high-quality Japanese ceramics, design pieces such as Artek furniture or Noguchi lamps, beautiful accessories, countless types of miso and a restaurant where you can get a traditional Japanese breakfast. There is teishoku, fish freshly imported from Tokyo such as mackerel dried in volcanic ash and, of course, the house speciality, miso soup made from the hotel’s own dashi. A great place, a piece of Tokyo in the centre of Brooklyn!
