The best Bullit de Peix con Arroz is in Bigote. The shop is a legend. In a dented black pot the fish stew, which is served together with rice, simmers over the fire. The speciality of the island is available there at 2 p.m. and usually only by reservation. At the back table next to the fireplace the corpulent patron with the moustache is enthroned. A real original. Not exactly friendly and lovable, but unique and inimitable. You can’t order much more than the best Bullit de Peix in the Bigote. At midday between twelve and half past twelve, fried fish is served as an alternative. That’s it, then. The fish tastes nowhere better than here directly at the sea, and the situation is phenomenal. In a lonely, narrow bay, there are the clunky, dark brown lacquered wooden tables that one likes to overlook in front of the blue shining sea. They are almost always occupied to the last seat. The location and the bullit immediately comfort the somewhat misanthropic nature of the hosts. The Bigote is not so easy to reach by car. Either you park in the bay next door and walk over the stones by the sea or you park your car above the restaurant and walk down the last meters of the winding road.
