The fortress, perched above the city is a landmark in Salzburg and absolutely must be visited at least once. It can be accessed by foot up a steep path, or more comfortably via a funicular. From Europe’s largest fortress take in a fantastic view of the city and the province of Salzburg – Alps included. On the way back to the city, stop at M32 to enjoy a coffee on the terrace and one more glance at the splendid view.
