This gallery has been a mecca for photography-art since 1979, with everything from past masters to aspiring contemporary artists: Bernd & Hilla Becher, Walker Evans, Edward Weston, Diane Arbus, Sol LeWitt as well as Hiroshi Sugimoto, Katy Grannan, Adam Fuss and Lee Friedlander. Fraenkel Gallery thrives with its portfolio of Sol LeWitt and, of course, with its museum-worthy presentation by Diane Arbus. Not only does the gallery show many classics, but it also has several rarely seen, precious items, such as an early portrait by Susan Sontag with her son David from 1965.
