The Galata tower, built in 1348, was the main bastion of the Constantinople fortification. The tower has a height of 62m and allows Istanbul visitors to view the whole city. Beneath the spire of the tower is a restaurant, which can be reached by elevator. Climb the never-ending stairs to the viewing gallery: you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the old part of town with its beautiful buildings.
