Josep Pinya is the biggest international gallerist in Palma. Even after the opening of the CCC (Centro Cultural Contemporani), his empire just keeps expanding. The smaller Galerie Sala Pelaires is located just around the corner. Since the 1950s, Pinya has been uncompromising in his love for and promotion of modern art. Back then he furthered the career of his friend Joan Miró, managing to make the impossible happen with an exhibition of the artist’s works during the Franca era. He also represents Alexander Calder, Antoni Tàpies, and Robert Motherwell. Anyone who manages to show with Pinya is made for life.
