Busy is the name of the game at downtown’s historic 1917 market hall. Alongside the many fruit, vegetable and street-food stalls, the overhead full of hanging neon signs is particularly memorable. In the prettiest colours and designs from various decades, they advertise kebabs, Mexican specialties, Chinese fast-food, and even the cash machine. It doesn’t make much sense to recommend individual stalls here, instead you should explore the whole place and try out what takes your fancy. Above all, what counts here is the particular historic atmosphere, which can be very difficult to find elsewhere in the city.
