If you travel through the Lake Constance region, then you have this wonderful selection of country inns – the best of course can be found here in the book. But there comes a time when you just want one – yes, burgers, a café to go and cookies – and it’s best to be up to date. Exactly what you find at Holly’s in Konstanz. So, now let’s have a look at the menu in detail: A good selection of burgers (a vegetarian one is also included), tarte flambée, modern salad, soups, curries, but also coffee and cake – and all that in a really nice place: Holly’s has a terrace right on the Rhine. And when the sun is shining, you eat your burger on the terrace and watch the people stand up paddling on the Rhine. Holly’s is certainly a spot that in other contexts wouldn’t seem as cool as it does in Konstanz – so much solidity makes you look very happy at this restaurant, with its old tables, the different old chairs that have been put together and the small details, such as the old gate from Bali that serves as a passage between two rooms. Holly’s has declined the modern Shabby Chic from start to finish. And that feels good in connection with all the rustic country inns. The menu fits in perfectly with this modern concept and you have an all around restaurant experience at the height of its time – but it is not authentic for the region!
