Il Sorpasso is a good recommendation for lunch or dinner after visiting St. Peter’s Basilica. The Prati eatery, with its stone vaulted ceiling, unplastered brick walls, crude wooden tables, and outdoor seating in the summer, is anything but a tourist trap, but is still very much in demand in the area around the Vatican. In addition to pasta and meat dishes, the trapizzini and cold cuts piled up into tall pyramids are a particular highlight. And then, you may hardly believe it, there are also fair prices – and that in the absolute tourist quarter, a dream!
