In the early nineties the magnificent Georgian-style Royal Hospital building was specially restored in order to accommodate the Museum of Modern Art. The minimalist interior is a fitting accompaniment to the modern and contemporary Irish art, as well as the international collection. The Museum’s substantial collection is continually enlarged. Works from famous contemporary artists include Marina Abramovic and Jack B. Yeats. At the same time there are usually one or two temporary exhibitions taking place. Also worthwhile is a stroll through the generous parking lot and the courtyard. There you can see the old stables which have since been converted to artists’ studios.
