The Fondation Cartier is a unique example of corporate patronage. Since 1994, the museum has been housed in Paris in a glass building designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel and develops an exhibition programme for contemporary art. What is special about the Fondation Cartier is that it regularly opens its doors to subjects that are rarely dealt with in museums. Resolutely multidisciplinary, it takes visitors to unexpected places and provokes surprising encounters between artists, scientists, philosophers, musicians and architects.
