Knut Upplandsgatan is a rustic, authentic Swedish restaurant. Elk antlers adorn the walls and stuffed birds decorate the room – a lovingly staged piece of northern Swedish wilderness in the centre of Stockholm. The name of the restaurant is reminiscent of grandfather Knut, a passionate hunter and gatherer from the north, who once taught his grandson the secrets of nature. In keeping with this, the kitchen serves typical specialities from northern Sweden – hearty and truly special. The menu is a little adventure in itself – full of unfamiliar names and dishes that arouse curiosity: Moose meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberries, roast reindeer with braised pointed cabbage or Arctic char – a fine cold-water fish from the far north. The culinary highlight for the brave: smoked reindeer heart. Vegetarians need not go hungry – there are always at least two meat-free alternatives on the menu. Large windows provide plenty of light, while simple wooden tables and colourful chairs give the room a relaxed atmosphere. There is a separate area in the basement – ideal for groups or private parties. If you want to discover Swedish cuisine in its most original form, this is the place for you.
