La Maison d’Isabelle makes probably the best croissant in Paris for €1.30: crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside – it tastes exactly as it should. Also recommended: Isabelle’s Galette aux Amandes, which was voted one of the best in the city in 2022. Viennese puff pastry, crushed almonds, plenty of pamplie butter and a dash of rum – perfect for chasing away the afternoon slump. There’s always a queue outside the shop, so don’t let that put you off; it moves quickly. After all, you don’t come here to linger, but to quickly grab a croissant or galette and enjoy it on the next bench by the Seine – preferably two.
