It’s as if the art-nouveau facade of this sophisticated French Restaurant had been implanted directly from Paris into Cologne’s Krefelder Street in Cologne. The Moissonnier is not the kind of beautiful place you can just walk past. The dishes from Chef Eric Menchon, are downright delicious and, accordingly, get the attention they deserve. When it comes to desert, we are crazy about the following: the Millefeuille de fraises had us in seventh heaven, not to mention the grilled aniseed treacle, the perfect consistency of the Mascarpone, or the delights of the strawberry and waldmeister lemonade. We didn’t want to leave, and our neighbours at the next table seemed to be in the same state of mind, smiling blissfully at Vincent Moissonnier as though he were some generous benefactor. Regular diners swear by the weekly menu, due to its ingenuity and the wide spectrum of its flavours. The charming art nouveau wall painting was made using the original stencils that belonged to a church and house painter from a bygone era, and it compliments the food with style. For twenty years, Mr and Mrs Moissonier have infused this authentic piece of France with so much grandeur, that you just want to try any dish they recommend in their charming French accents. Trés trés bien.
