In the centre of Saint-Tropez, between 100-year-old plane trees, lies the beautiful Place des Lices. Every day, the locals gather here to play boules, but every Tuesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., this otherwise tranquil square is transformed into a large, lively market. Dozens of stalls sell everything from cheese to vegetables to antiques. The locals gather at 8 am to shop, to avoid the tourist rush and the crowds that start pouring into the market at 10 am, and then have a café au lait on the terrace of the Café des Arts.
