There is no better place to collect souvenirs than Noordermarkt. A total of 50 retailers come to the church square in front of Noorderkerk church every Saturday to offer organic produce in the middle of Jordaan quarter. Locals, tourists and former inhabitants of Amsterdam from the more quiet suburbs make a pilgrimage to the market each weekend to stock up on good cheese, delicious herring, the best bread, fresh herbs or excellent honey. The queue in front of the famous butcher Louman is where people meet each other. Market visitors are in a fabulous mood seeing their friends and relatives. The market is simply colorful and relaxed. After the shopping, people sit down in the cafés surrounding the square to enjoy the weekend with a “Koffie verkeert” and an apple tart.
