In Omotesando, the atmosphere has changed dramatically in just a decade and little of the charm of earlier times has remained. Today, the futuristic commercial centre designed by star architect Tadao Ando is the centre of the district. The wide Avenue Omotesando has become a showcase for the major fashion brands. To put it in a nutshell, it’s the Champs-Élysées of Tokyo, fashion about fashion and street corners where photographers lurk to capture the style of Japanese fashionistas for their blogs. The surrounding shops and restaurants are accordingly expensive.
