Palio di Siena

The Palio in Siena was never an insider tip, but it is definitely worth a visit. Three times around the Piazza del Campo the nerve-racking race of the Palio delle Contrade is ridden. More than 70,000 enthusiastic spectators follow the spectacle. Those who don’t want to expect the crowd should perhaps go to the city on the eve of the race, because there the dress rehearsal takes place and la cena della prova generale, the big dinner of all the Contrades.
