The baroque church of San Gennaro, painted sunny yellow, is the heart of Praiano. It towers over the sea and offers a breathtaking view of the coast all the way to Positano. The lush interior is full of splendour and glory – marble, altars, religious paintings and statues can be admired here. But the real highlight is the church forecourt, here the locals meet daily as if it were their living room. The children play football – despite the big prohibition sign – but that doesn’t bother anyone, after all, life here blooms until late into the night. August is just as spectacular when the Festival of San Domenico transforms the Piazza into a paradise of street artists and attractions. In short, there is always something going on here!
