In Pekelhaaring things are laid-back. During the whole day the open kitchen serves Italian-inspired dishes like fried sardines, arancini, saffron-risotto balls and home-made salsiccia (Italian sausage) served with fennel and mussels. The restaurant is the success-story of two brothers, who after a combined 40 years of gastronomy experience decided in 2008 to open their own restaurant. The result is Nordic and pleasantly simple, furnished with hand-picked vintage pieces from the 60s, and lacks the conventional lunch and dinner times. Especially lovely is the atmosphere in the early evening, when things are somewhat quieter in Pekelhaaring and one can watch life pass by through the meter-high windows.
