Pera Palace Hotel

The Pera Palace Hotel has been called into new life. Such a rebirth however, so often brings with it the unfortunate loss of patina. Under the new sheen everything seems a bit flatter, the old stories feel as if painted over. But of course it’s not really so. In the bar and in the dining hall the venerable old rooms can still be felt, a sense also emanating from the old elevators. The bedrooms are classically tasteful, renovated with some new details, but maintaining others in the original style, such as the very pretty classically embroidered bed linen, inviting the old coat of arms to a dignified sleep. The small café, open to all guests, feels bare and uncomfortable, though also maintained in lovely pink tones.
