Modernism in Austrian architecture started with the most beautiful bank branch in Europe. The Postsparkasse (Post Office Savings Bank), completed in 1906, is a visionary complete work of art from Otto Wagner, who not only designed the glass covered hall, but also the whole interior; from the pillars for the heating, and the lamp holders, right down to the furniture.
