Formerly the “Storch” (stork), today it’s called Renger-Patzsch. Regional country-style food is the order of the day, and the team here has hit on the perfect balance between refined and hearty. Chef Hannes Behrmann, previously at the Storch and later also at Couchon Bourgeois, can really cook! The plaice with crispy speck and breadcrumbs is perfectly executed, the salads fresh and interesting, and overall the menu is full of great dishes. The delicious “Flammkuchen” (Alsatian-style pizza) are luckily still to be found on the menu – they simply belong here. The owner Oliver Schupp, a fan of the old Stork, has with good sense maintained the interior, adding only a few historic landscape photographs by Albert Renger-Patzsch, a personal inheritance. Everything’s “bene”, and the staff also visibly enjoy their work.
