The laid-back little brother of the highly praised restaurant El Paraguas is the Place To Be in Madrid. See and to be seen is what’s hot here, whether they’re stars or businessmen in suit and tie. On top of that they serve great food for realistic prices. The menu is comprehensive and rich in variety, though best are the Spanish dishes like the roast octopus or zamburiñas: scallops with fried rice. It isn’t easy to get a table yourself, though during lunch it’s a little quieter. In the evening you’ll have to reserve and if you still can’t get a table, you’ll just have to squeeze yourself in at the bar for drinks and finger food, surrounded by the vivacious buzz of the in-crowd.
