In the old town of Riva del Garda, just a few steps from the port, the winged golden lion of Ristorante Pizzeria Leon d’Oro sits enthroned in a narrow alleyway on the house wall of Via Fiume 28. The dining rooms with their venerable vaulted ceilings are just as traditional as the lion’s figure.
In 2001 the Salvaneschi family, who have owned the restaurant since 1939, renovated it.
The stately furnishings and the floor boards and marble floors of the large dining hall are far more unpretentious than the light cuisine, which has been prepared with great attention to detail and high standards.
A simple pizza that stands out in taste is available from 6 Euros. The risotto with black truffles that taste like fresh lime is also a pleasure. The cook from Apulia, Paolo Adamo, also knows how to prepare wonderful meat and fish. When choosing the wine, the focus is particularly on the regional ones. The restaurant is an excellent place to have a quiet dinner for two or for large rounds.
