Rocket + Basil is an exciting mix of traditional Persian cuisine and Australian brunch culture. And it doesn’t just come from anywhere – behind Rocket + Basil are the two German-Iranian sisters Sophie and Xenia von Oswald, who grew up in Australia but have also lived in London and Istanbul in between. The menu is also multi-culti: there is cardamom porridge with apple kumquat topping or “winter kuku”, which is a Persian frittata. For lunch, you should definitely try a Persian stew, and for dessert, you can’t miss the Millionaire’s Shortbread – which is also vegan and gluten-free.
