Christoph Gelder, the owner of the Schlosswirtschaft, has many stations behind him: Munich, Hamburg, London and Shanghai and much more. Then he returned to his home village in 2007, took over the Wildenwart including the portrait of Princess Helmtrud of Bavaria (1886-1977), who watches over the guests in the restaurant. There a circle closes, because money has already bought his first ice cream here, celebrated his communion and various other family celebrations.
With the new owner the Wildenwart has picked up speed again: The atmosphere is familiar, the cordial conditions in the Dirndl serve Tegernseer from the barrel and the Sunday evening is characterized by the many regular guests, who are hearty and in the whole restaurant a family celebration mood can arise.
The good food supports this feeling with fresh, aromatic pumpkin soup, baked veal head, which is finely breaded and wonderfully spicy. The spinach dumplings with tomato ointment butter and parmesan are very light. Especially recommended is the Renke, which is the best we have eaten with its perfectly tender salt crust, garlic and lemon.
