The Tannenhütte can only be reached on foot and not by car, but the way is worth it – especially for the view. If you sit down here, high above the roofs of Garmisch-Patenkirchen, the whole valley basin lies at your feet, framed by the Wetterstein mountains over the Alp- and Zugspitze. Anna and Andreas are behind the hut concept, which definitely stands out next to all the others. After a fire, the hut was rebuilt in 2018 and surprises with its modern interpretation of a mountain hut. Wood, glass and copper set the tone here. A refreshing change alongside all the traditional refreshment options. We recommend the hiking trail over the Schalmeischlucht gorge – starting point is the valley station of the Wankbahn cable car.
