The Alphen

The Alphen is a boutique hotel located just outside Cape Town on one of the oldest wineries in the country. The five-star hotel includes a large garden with ancient oak trees, a pool, various seating areas and daybeds where you can read and doze off. If you are lucky, you will discover the owl that lives in the garden at dusk. The 19 rooms are located in the centuries-old farm buildings and are furnished in a somewhat old-fashioned yet opulent style, with golden mirrors, purple velvet armchairs and ornate details and all modern amenities such as wifi, docking station and mini-bar. In the morning, you can’t start the day better by running along the hotel’s own jogging track through the garden and between vines, and then you deserve a rustic breakfast in the bistro at La Belle Bistro & Bakery.
