Jörg Meyer, who brought high bar culture to the city with his legendary Le Lion, has now opened what he calls a neighborhood bar in Hamburg-Eppendorf. Here he focuses on Highballs, which are mixed with just ice and a “filler” along with the appropriate spirits. You’ll only understand why he thinks this culture is undervalued once you have tried his Gin Basil Smash or delicious take on the Whiskey Sour. Nothing shaken here, just high quality cocktail culture with swing music in the background, plumes of smoke hanging heavy in the air, and an incredible selection of nearly 100 brands of Whiskey. Don’t be scared off by the slightly snooty Eppendorf clientele.
