At the central square in Bregenz, the Kornmarktplatz, is the Theatercafé – an institution in Bregenz. Everybody goes here. Drink coffee, have lunch or enjoy a piece of cake in the afternoon. The interior is classic, not particularly original, but the cakes are a speciality: the Bregenz wafers are famous and rightly so. Another eye-catcher is the poppy seed cake, which is really good! In the counter you can also see vermicelles – a southern Swiss speciality made of pureed chestnuts with butter, lump sugar, kirsch and vanilla sugar.
