While some consider Torre Velasca to be one of the world’s ugliest buildings, others praise it for its architectural merits. Although opinions vary, everyone has one, as the building conspicuously protrudes out of Milan’s center. It was built in the 1950s, right on top of a large hole created by the Allied bombs. The tower is 100 meters in height and was supposed to be a modern addition to the skyline. However, they also tried to adapt the tower to the existing structures by adding gothic elements. The lower levels of Torre Velasca consist of offices and stores, while the upper levels are apartments.
