If you want to experience Tyrol through and through, including Dirndl, Lederhosen, Tyrolean hats and checkered tablecloths, you’ve come to the right place. The Wirtshaus zum Griena is hidden in the old village centre directly under the mountains. The way there is already dreamlike romantic, the house a pure wooden construction with veranda in front of the entrance. Inside, a Tyrolean salon awaits you, including heartwood chairs. On the menu you will find an excellent ensemble of cheese dumplings on cream sauerkraut, Zillertaler Kässpätzle, roast beef, schnitzel, spinach dumplings and of course a Brettljause – a rustic cheese plate with vinegar, oil, onions and bread is also available. For dessert, a Pfannenkcuhen or a Heidelbeerschmarren is a must.
Those who feel comfortable in this atmosphere will certainly not be harmed by folk music, even if the spirits certainly separate here. The Griena staff are very friendly and know how to preserve tradition: always with a smile on their lips. This leads to a great atmosphere in the whole restaurant, which certainly leads to the popularity among of the restaurant. Also the locals like to come here again and again. That’s why it’s quite difficult to “just come by”, you should definitely make a reservation!
