There is a special story behind the Valeriehaus. Back when Emperor Franz Josef ruled the empire, the Valeriehaus was designated a refuge. On the crossing of the main Alpine ridge, the Valeriehaus – named after the youngest imperial daughter – offered hikers shelter and rest for many years. In 2011, Liene and Otto Klaffenböck came to the Valeriehaus, fell in love and transformed the place into a new jewel that enchants its guests with culinary delights all year round. Whether on foot, by mountain bike or quite comfortably by car – many paths lead to the Valeriehaus. A popular trail starts in the municipality of Böckstein and leads to the pleasure point in a hike of about one and a half hours with a great view. Once you have stopped, you can look forward to specialities such as Kasnock`n in the cast iron pan or hearty Bauernpfandl. An absolute insider tip are the nougat poppy seed dumplings with cinnamon vanilla sabayon.
