The Antica Focacceria is a wonderful mixture of timeless Art Nouveau and lived tradition, refined with a lot of patina and is run in the fifth generation by the two brothers Vincenzo and Fabio. Since 1834, the freshly prepared Pane con la milza has been displayed above the beautiful Art Nouveau counter in front of the guests: These are rolls topped with spleen and veal tongue, sprinkled with a few drops of lemon juice, ricotta and a little parsley. Actually a palermisches poor people food, which has here however the Slow Food quality estimated by us. Those who don’t dare to try the burger with innards will find delicious alternatives with fried panelling (small oil cakes made from chickpea flour), Involtini di melanzane, Sarde a beccafico (sardines with onions and raisins) or tomato salad with buffalo mozzarella. Make sure you leave some room for the homemade cannelloni with ricotta filling. Very delicious. In the three-storey institution you can help yourself and sit on wrought-iron tables. For those who prefer to be served, there is a reserved osteria, which even offers its guests seats in the beautiful church piazza. From the upper floor, one has a wonderful view to the magnificent San Francesco church.
