This one-time cloister is not only one of Salzburg’s oldest and most beautiful beer gardens, but also a brewery, which makes beer according to guarded, time-honoured recipes. In summer, there is nothing more refreshing than to sit under the ancient chestnut trees with a refresing, heady Augustiner. In accordance with old beer garden rules you are welcome to bring along your own picnic. Even so, the kiosk sells most everything that copmliments their suds: black and white radishes fresh from the farm, juicy Steckl fish, crispy grilled Henderl, pretzels with sardine butter. On cold days, guests sit inside in the cloister’s cozy halls. A gourmet buffet resembling an old market hall offers everything your heart may desire.
