Even if you’ve spent time on more idyllic beaches than this, Baker Beach on the Pacific with its view of the Golden Gate Bridge is still the “it” place for locals, and increasing numbers of tourists, on warm days. Located on the other side of the rocks at the Presidio, Baker Beach is easy to find. Scandolously (by US standards) it even has a nudist section, which begins after the “Hazardous Surf” sign. It was here, in 1986 that the first Burning Man Festival took place. The water is ice cold and the beach often windy, but if that’s not too cool for you, bring a small picnic or grill and spend a while taking in the spectacular view and enjoy some people watching.
