The magnificent “Basilica San Marco” reflects the former connection of Venice with Byzance. Venice’s symbol of power was rebuilt by an unknown architect in even greater dimensions. The inside is almost completely covered in mosaics, made up of precious gems and gold. The originals of the “horses” mounted above San Marcos can be admired in the adjoining museum.
