Breda has achieved in a very short space of time what many restaurants fail to do. The second venture from Manuel Pinciroli, Lu Leisering and Silvan Frick – the founders of Pinci Bar in Mitte – has been one of the city’s most sought-after restaurants since it opened. The location on Paul-Lincke-Ufer could hardly be better. On one of Kreuzberg’s most beautiful streets, a young, style-conscious crowd gathers, looking just as natural as the place itself. The space is bathed entirely in warm orange tones. From the walls to the upholstery, the colour runs through the entire restaurant, creating an atmosphere that is instantly recognisable. Breda is somewhat reminiscent of the Paris Bar, though younger and fresher. The menu is deliberately kept small and changes regularly. Instead of offering many options, the kitchen focuses on just a few dishes that make you want to order a second helping. Green asparagus with herb sauce and mashed potatoes is a good example, as is a truly incredible tiramisu, the likes of which you’d only find in Rome. Add to that a well-curated wine list and hosts with a commanding presence and warmth. No wonder Breda has quickly become one of Berlin’s most sought-after destinations. Bookings are essential.
